The author's tea
The day began with Tony showing off his new shirt at the bus stop. The kids assembled with their books and the proud teacher was ready to go as Benjamin waited anxiously for the show to begin. Kathy Klockenbrink was out of focus and in as Benjamin told us his piece of how a book is made and then got his certificate of award from the teacher. Stephanie got hers next. Then Benjamin told about his book and Stephanie about hers. We got a few shots of the class with their books and then Benjamin with his certificate and Stephanie with hers. Emily and Hannah, the little sisters seemed to be enjoying themselves as Benjamin showed his book to Suzanne for her comments. The same process was happening in the Klockenbrink compound as Benjamin and Sebastian posed for the camera.

After the show, there were the usual refreshments you expect at such an event -- cheese and crackers donut holes and gummy worms which amused Suzanne as Ben posed with his teacher and then with the main poster where his bookworm was.

Senior awards ceremony

Sarah won the Society of Women Engineers Award and then was awarded the prize for Latin -- silver medal and certificate that was too white for this camera. Lily won the prize in Japanese. Noah won the French (or something?) prize, Joyce won the student-athlete, Noah won the orchestra prize and then the proceedings mercifully ended.

JWMS promotion and the celebration afterwards

Jane was far in the corner and hardly visible even with the digital zoom while the dignitaries assembled and Jane got her diploma which really excited the grandparents and led to a bunch of pictures of Jane and Fred and an attempt to get Jane and Sarah to both look at the camera at the same time. Next there were Lucy, Rosie and Jane Then Fred joined and Lucy's parents appeared and she joined them. Phil and Rosie Haimm were there and I captured a preview of Sarah and Claire (main event next Tuesday). Back at home, Lissie, Tommy and Daniel were there as the family women compared notes and the food looked very good to Dan and Milt. Alice arrived as did Justin but Benjamin stuck to his game. The arrival of Kevin and his mother made Benjamin play cards with his grandmother as Jane and Lucy then Caroline and then the George family with surrogate posed. Mary Knapp and her father arrived as did Alice's father which made Jane and Kaylen happy while Lizzie and Sara Just posed with the beautiful flowers. The promotees were very amused by Steven Tsai and his food as the Scheiners arrived and took turns closing their eyes for the camera. Rich Staller and Chris Hagadorn were having a nice conversation as Jan and Dan posed for the rhyming picture which Priscilla got focus undoubtedly to capture 3 generations of Staller women during which time, someone used my camera to take a picture of me what a concept! Rory had to leave as did Adele but the grandparents seemed happy to amuse the Huangs and Justin and Jessie danced.

This food changed Michael from this to this as he happily joined the clean plate club which led to discussion among Seva, Peter and Caroline.

Then the older kids arrived and Phillip posed with Suzanne as the Mulveys said something to amuse Josephine after which Laurie told Suzanne what it was.

Steven Just was sad then happy that the Manleys were leaving as was Steven while Dansyl tried to get the camera going.

Emily and Mary posed as the movie crowd got ready to go to Pam's amusement. The elders gathered together to process the evening and see if Suzanne could keep her eyes open for a picture.

Meanwhile, the older kids were signing yearbooks pointing tongues and acting pensive while with Justin's final adieu we were left to look at Dan's hand and wonder why he didn't play the 8 of clubs.
