It was the gap after grading the exams and before giving the grades, so I decided that it was time to spend a day in Philadelphia with DrLen. whose neighbor had a good bumper sticker and license plate as DrLen got in his car and we drove to South Philadelphia where we parked in front of the cigar store that had this Indian (whoops!! Native American) in front of it so that we could eat at Marra's. where they had good pizzas on their menu It was even better when it came Afterwards, we stopped in the facilities to work off the diet cokes we'd had in preparation for our trip to Italiano's where they serve water ice and invented the gelati I had the out of towners version while DrLen's was more traditional

Next we went to visit Joel and Diane who took these pictures of her garden and we headed off to South Philly where they put McDonald's in front of painted murals on walls. We stopped at this park because it was opposite the original Levis building while this gentleman obliged for the obligatory phone booth picture at the plaque for W. E. B. DuBois. He kept talking even as I took the piercing pictures and pondered getting one as DrLen met his former helper whose name I forgot.

On we went towards the tattoo parlor and met the chef people. and then the police who didn't seem to mind me taking their picture but DrLen ducked in here Gentle viewer, perhaps you remember why I took this picture... as we headed to Rodeo Kidz by the stop sign while DrLen checked out the windows and I shot a picture of another mural by Adler's Fabrics and the whole street scene at the corner with the nicely painted facade looking out at the Stop Sign not to mention the beautiful pottery Then we met an old friend

Again the street scene was very colorful

as Larry watched over the next corner with the Haagen Dazs emblem hanging down as we saw another pioneer food establishment and a great cigar sign with boxes and seltzer bottles at gargoyles The sparkplug inspired DrLen and the trucks and this inspirational message led us to Isaiah Zaigar's work

and we headed further down the street past the narrow street the directional sign and the natives to the car. On the way home, we saw this bus sign that reminded us that Judy was working, Our very last stop was to admire Wilt's mural and take a picture of these guys
